Lately I haven’t been doing a lot of crafting. I did sew a couple things for 18″ dolls.

I’ve also been knitting a few dishcloths, but I’ll show you those later.
This is what has been dominating my free time lately.

It’s s a 1971 Volkswagen standard Beetle. I’ve wanted one of these for a really long time. We hadn’t started doing much work to it in this photo. I’d been polishing the paint on the fenders, but that was all.
One of the previous owners had lowered it way too much, and the tires hit the inside of the front fenders. We’ve raised the rear suspension already. For the front, we had to replace the front beam. We used parts from three beams to put one good one together. It just got painted today.

After the paint, we started pulling apart the pedal assembly. In a few days we’ll get some new parts for it. That gives us time to get it cleaned up and painted.

The wheels went to the body shop for sandblasting and painting on Wednesday. New tires are ordered.

I still have a lot of paint to polish, but I don’t want to take the chance of rocking it too much while it’s up on jack stands. I’d hate to knock it off.
