We had a couple of cold days in the first week of this year so I’ve been making slippers for us.

It’s a little weird trying to take a picture of your own feet so forgive the terrible photo. The pattern is Better Dorm Booties for Men by Kris Basta. I made the size 11-12, but I should have checked my gauge because these fit small (more like a 9-10). I had intended them for someone with larger feet so I’ll have to take another go at them for that person; this pair became mine. The yarn is Red Heart Super Saver for the soles and I Love This Yarn for the upper.
I’m not the only one who has a fresh new pair of slippers this year. Dale got a pair, too. It’s hard to find anything to fit his size 16 feet so making a custom made pair of slippers was the best way to accomplish that.

They look pretty good and fit well. They didn’t look like they would fit when I finished the knitting, though.

They started out looking like clown socks! I had to felt them to get them down to size. The pattern is Family of Slippers. The yarn is some very vintage wool that was given to me by a lady down the street. There was some moth damage to the yarn so a felting project was a perfect use for it.
If anyone ever gives you yarn, it’s always a good idea to tie it up in a trash bag and store it in a freezer for a few weeks before you do anything else with it. Obviously you don’t want to introduce moths or carpet beetles that may be present in the yarn into your stash.
Yesterday I spent some time weaving the ends in on some dishcloths. Forty-four dishcloths, to be exact! I’ve just been knitting them and tossing them in a bag to deal with later. Yesterday was later enough. I’m trying to be better about the finishing details this year. I have a terrible habit of putting off the weaving in of ends, seaming, sewing on snaps and buttons, etc.

They’re all made with this pattern and Premier Just Cotton yarn. The name of that yarn is a little misleading. It’s actually 85% cotton and 15% polyester. It knits up very nicely. I got all of it at Dollar Tree.
Yesterday I also crocheted another Maddy Doll and a few outfits for her (all ends are woven in ?). Then today I started another doll for another little girl. I’ll share those dolls with you when I get them finished. The last doll arrived at her new home last week. My niece and her parents all liked it. I’ll take that as a win.
My brother and his wife and my sister all got their handknit socks in the mail. All of them fit well, and they all seemed happy with them. I need to find out what size a few of my other siblings wear so I can make them a pair, too. I have 7 siblings so it may take a while to cover all their feet.
We’re having some really nice weather for January today, and it should continue for a few more days. I’ll take sunshine and warm over snow and ice every time!
